something cool happened!

yeah, as the post name suggests, something cool happened
I was hanging out with Vijay and Somya y'day
got a case of beers and some pizza and a movie
but that was just the starting
in the morning, i started the beautiful day with some good omlets and coffee (none of which i prepared), and as the day progressed, i learnt that my fiancee was coming home early.
but the coolest part begun when all the 3 of us started from Vj's house.
we went to a mercedes show room, yeah, u read it right, mercedes show room
and Me, the ruler of the rage, for the first time, sat in a E 500 class of a classic cool mercedes in the driver seat. and that made my day.
i got to sit in the front seat of a mercedes!
man was i thrilled, i am still thrilled and its already like 20 hours past that time.
its way too cool, its luxury redefined, its everything to say "step aside, coz vathsa's arrived"
well, still day dreaming about my hummers and mercs, but this was cool
i'll post a pic once i get one of my own,
may take till end of this year or may be early next year, but thats the target.
lets see how life turns out in the next 10 months.

i played poker today, had some more beer and some good quality cigars
got to spend some good time with my gurl
and as i hit the bed with a real bad back ache, i am still happy

so be it,
till the time my first car comes to me again :)
this is vathsa
who else can it be !

hell is just unfreezing

yeah,
hell had frozen for the last couple of weeks, but intermittently.

We had temperatures fall to almost single digits and also had temps at 60's. supposedly this is the best february weather New York had in ages. that keeps me happy :). Yesterday we had 50 mph winds. come to think of it, it is the top speed of a car in bangalore. wow, theres a comparison.

life is going on, i got onto reading a super super book on hedge funds called all about hedge funds!. Makes a non finance person understand the investment universe. its nice, i am half way done, gotta be able to finish it by this weekend.

since i have only 3 classes in my business school this semester, i don't have much of homeworks. there are a few, but nothing unbearable. my work with professors have been going great. The research that i was working on with Prof. Goswami, is gonna get published in a elite finance journal, so there are 2 more lines to my Resume. also, did i mention that i got a certification from bloomberg, in case i didn't, there you go.

trying to keep myself occupied, coz internship hunting can be taxing on your balance. In the last week alone I have applied for about 30 investment firms. still waiting. What makes me uncomfortable is the fact that I have to wait. I am one of the persons that needs instant gratification. during the wait time, i can be overbearing. well, i pity latha :)

spoke to my parents today, well, i called them as soon as i woke up, its nice to talk to your parents whenever you feel like. I have seen them only last month, but i still miss them.

latha is in florida on a business conference. she is gonna be back on sunday evening. she is gonna see Shamu the killer whale in Orlando seaworld.

I havn't got slightest clue as to what i will be doing over this weekend. I have some plans, like may be i can scare myneighbours by playing on my guitar, the same 11 songs over and over again. or i can clean the room again, but it still won't be clean. I can wash my clothes, but they are not that many so i can wait for 'nother week. looks like i am stuck with the non pressing homeworks.

life is gonna be good.
if anything changes, will pen the same

till then

evolution

well,
God made me smart but evolution is taking its toll.

I am soaking myself in thoughts. morbid? may be, may be not.

its been a horrendous week. i have been juggling with 2 professors for time.
had a out of turn mid term for macro economics, that was fun (really)
working on lotsa homeworks for Financial Statement Analysis, thats fun too
i got a level 1 certification on bloomberg terminal.
wait a minute, looks like the week was not that horrible after all!

ok, here is something to muse on.
i have been applying to companies, boutique investment banks, big time investment banks, financial service sector, corporate finance functions for the last 1 month. Hopefully i get to hear something from them other than a mail saying "thank you for your interest"
in the last 2 days i think i have applied for atleast 2 million companies, so i am expecting something out of it.

life is going on otherwise.
guess what, i am supposed to receive the refund of my tution fees and yes, i am still waiting for it. There are always some administrative issues involved. In my case i guess later is better, so i wont end up spending the money earlier than i have to :)

i spoke to my parents today,
it is one of the the most satisfying things i do in all week. I think you have to be really close to the loved ones, may it be ascendents or descendents. Things going good, i think i should have them visit me this year, so they can help me set up my apartments and i will have time (and more importantly money) to take them and show them this place. Believe me there is lots to see in New York no matter which age group you belong to. There are always plenty of places to interest anyone.

college is going on good, got some more of the mid terms coming up, well, not more, its just one. not too sad about it. In fact if i get all A's in this semester i will be up in 3.95
here is something to muse on "scores don't matter much in a Grad School"
however, a good score keeps me happy

now i gotta hit the sack and get ready to brave the weather tomorrow
in case you didn't know, it snowed 27 inches, highest ever recorded in the NY city.
so have to maneuver my way around the stickiness and all the slush, its very yucky!
but i guess we have no ther choice but to live the way the big man wants us to :)

did i mention that my girl got me luck. As soon as we got engaged and came back to NY, I got another assistantship with another professor, which essentially paid towards my fees and living expenses :)
its just a tip of the iceberg. theres more where that came from. and its only a beginning :)

well,
personally, to quote myself again

"Waiting for a change of season all the winter's been so long
searching for a rhyme or reason you just have to move on"

till then
