pre historic to futuristic over the weekend

this was a very eventful weekend in the life of Vat in the US.
in 3 days i did the following
1. Went to the american museum of natural history
2. visited the hayden planetarium
3. went to new jersey
4. gambled in atlantic city
5. went to the car show in new york
6. ate out in a wonderful place called "Vatan"

wow, just look at the list and it was all done in 3 days.

friday i met up with Dini, unlike his brother and his brother's friends (incl. me) he has a very good sense of timing and direction.

we met up on thursday evening in forest hills. after browzing thru WWII books, we met up with latha, somya and vijay for sandwiches and ice creams. thats it, that was thursday.

friday, (back to the future version), we met up at our usual hangout, herald square Macy's. went to American museum of natural history. man its huge. we looked around (very fast too) for about 3 to 4 hours and could cover about 15 to 20% of the place. We also saw a show called cosmic collisions in the hayden planetarium. we hurridly left to new jersey as we wanted to meet rags and head to atlantic city.

this gets interesting,
when we got down at morristown (rag's village), but we had to wait for him for almost half an hour. This was inspite of we calling him every 10 mins from the train. We left that night for Atlantic city. got to a place called "CEASERS" (not based on julius ceaser but Agustus Ceaser, the first roman emperor).

here is some quick facts
1. Rags lost 40 bucks in wheel of fortune in less than 10 mins.
2. Dini lost 40 bucks in wheel of fortune in less than 10 mins as well.
3. Me made some money and lost some money while playing poker. but when we left i was down 35 bucks.

the journey back was torterous, horrendus, tiresome and the all the other adjectives that convey the same meaning. well, more so for Rags. He was the fireless, i mean fearless charioteer on this brave new journey back home. he had to drive for almost 3 hours straight. but since we were all trashed out (no alcohol, just fatigue) he had to take a couple of pit stops. We slept in 2 resting places (inside the car) and Rags drove in almost empty tank for 20 miles. finally the 3 heros (with lot less money than they started with) returned to the village.

one thing that i have to give to rags, he is the best goddamned driver i have seen (after VJ). I got complete trust in his driving now. (if it were B'lore, it would be another case)

the next day (mind it, its saturday), Rags had to work on his bitches ooops, batches i mean. and on a wonderful day with 77 degrees weather with bright sunshine, we left to new york at 8:30 PM .

when we came to the city it was about 10 or something in the night and after dinner, we again went to Mariott Marquis in times square. after playing around with escalators we reached the place and ordered for drinks.

"let this be known as the day Rags lost his virginity, well on alcohol :)"
for the record he had a drink called Toasted Coconut, which had Stalichnoya Vodka and Malibu white rum and hot chocolate and whip cream :)

i had a sweeny todd (vodka cocktail) and a cosmopolitan (another vodka cocktail) and so did Dini. i dont remember his drinks now.

then we headed to the village (greewich village), in the vicinity of New York University. Man there are a lot of hot girls around. and more pubs than you can count. we just strolled and took a cab back to dini's place.

sunday was the day of auto expo and we were joined by latha, somya and VJ again. I can't explain much, so look at the photos :)
